Oregon is a state of the northwest United States in the Pacific Northwest. It was admitted as the 33rd state in 1859. In 1848 the Oregon Territory was created, including all of present-day Washington and Idaho. The state%27s current boundaries were established in 1853. Oregon is covered by Washington on north, Idaho on east, Nevada on southeast and California on south. Oregon is the ninth largest states in U.S. Its area is 97,073 square miles.
Salem is the capital and Portland the largest city. Its approximated population is 3,550,000. Oregon has one of the most diverse landscapes of any state in the U.S. It is famous for its tall, dense forests, its accessible, scenic Pacific coastline; and its rugged, glaciated Cascade volcanoes.
